Tombspire exists on the more soundtrack-ey, Berlin School side of the Dungeon Synth ContinuumTM, that place conveying a 1970s grimdark soundtrack feel. There is a spacey quality to the synths as they pulse out into the void, seeking something to bounce off of, that weird post-modernist, retro-futurist sound that would be just at home in Blade Runner as it would be in Deathstalker (the original, not the re-imagined version…). It’s more steampunk than swords and sorcery, but don’t take that as a criticism, because it’s not. Grim Father is bringing something different to the table, something their own. It’s not just blending old with new; lots of folks do that. It’s a sonic juxtaposition of a 1970s blending of (then) current-state-anomie-meets-hopefulness-for-the-future and, well, some version of the same from say 15th century Saxony. I know that doesn’t make sense when you read it, so just give Tombspire a play and hear it for yourself.

Tombspire was released digitally in December 2025 and got the cassette treatment from Totem Wilds in early 2026. Digitally you can grab it from the Grim Father Bancamp page HERE, while the physical copies are available from Totem Wilds HERE.
