Kaos was a short-lived punk band out of Los Angeles whose entire output during their existence comprised of the three-song Product Of A Sick Mind…, which interestingly came out both as a 7″ and a 12″. I found this copy on the wall at Extreme Noise Records in Minneapolis, and the price was right so I grabbed it.

Stylistically Kaos are more on the garage rock side. “Alcholiday” has elements of the predecessors such as The Sonics, but with a dose of, at least to my ears, the Minneapolis punk sound. It’s chord-driven and catchy, less angst and more matter-of-fact in the delivery. The tempo picks up on the B side with the Clash-like “Top Secret”, followed by the darker “Iron Dream”.
Given the prices of both original versions, I’d probably recommend sticking with the much more affordable 2000 7″ re-release or, better yet, the 20-track CD collection of all the band’s recorded material called Komplete Kaos.
