I know next to nothing about Nathan Nothing (pun not originally intended, but I was too lazy to change it when it’s right there to be made). His Bandcamp page indicates he’s based in/from Brooklyn. He’s been on Instagram for just over a year and has 692 followers. He seems to have some unclear ties to Seattle. So how did he cross my radar? Well, Instagram. Specifically a post by Seattle’s Georgetown Records about having Nothing’s new vinyl release 0 / 00 in stock. I’m not sure what about that post got me to look him up on Spotify, but I did. And then I bought his record on Bandcamp.
And then I realized this is the best new release I’ve heard so far in 2026.

0 / 00 is, in fact, a combined release that includes the EPs 0 and 00, both of which came out this year. We open with “High Beams”, all lush, deep beats and a low, languid, spoken vocal delivery, a song for a neon-lit dystopian futurescape populated by body-modified freaks driving retro-looking cars. Next up is “Spill the Tea”, and now the beats are getting even lower, more of a techno feel, the whispered vocals standing out in contrast to the sonic evolution of the track, the beats changing time organically, the higher-range electronic elements dancing on top like fireflies above a dark pond. And then… a flat-out hip hop track? “Molly” is carried forward on a foundation of rhythms alternating between techno and hip hop, but the lyrics are delivered with pure staccato. That brings us to “Please Don’t Go” and now we’re in a whirlpool, spiraling, the bumping surrounding an impossibly dark, dense core of bass from which nothing can escape beyond a few stray synth notes firing forth like flares from a Roman candle. The side closes with “In This House” which is, well, some deep house. Like, way deep, the way I like it, with saturated vocal samples and a low end that wraps around you like a blanket, swaddling you in purple sounds, a heartbeat of low end that holds you… compresses you…
And that was just 0. Side A.
Nothing describes 00 as “a social commentary on this current hellscape,” and this side/EP has a more consistent overall theme. “Bills” is about, well, bills, and “Punch a Nazi” literally tells us punch a motherfuckin’ nazi in the mouth, a sentiment I think everyone can get behind (hopefully…), while also encouraging us to put our damn phones down. “Ferrari” drips with syrup-thick irony, I crashed my Ferrari / On my way to the party, the vapidness of look-at-me culture laid bare (Head to toe / In Armani….). “Pressure”… Pressure is killing me… Nothing doesn’t ever say what is causing the pressure, and he doesn’t have to, because we’re living it every single day, am I right? The vocals on “ChatGPT” come to us with the slightly less-than-real digital voice of our soon-to-be AI overlords.
One of the (many) things I like about 0 / 00 is Nothing’s ability to embrace stylistic variety while maintaining a stable core, a gravitational center around which the songs can stray but not leave behind entirely.
0 / 00 is available on various streaming platforms. The vinyl release can be found on Nathan Nothing’s Bandcamp page HERE. I suggest you get your hands on a copy while you can – I’m guessing the print run was fairly small, and this thing could easily blow up.
