mt. fujitive is back with another delightful collection of chill beats and smooth synths. What originally started as an EP expanded to a full-length album, his fifth solo effort in the last seven years. And I, for one, am grateful, because his brand of lo-fi is so relaxing and calming, exactly the medicine this crazy world of ours needs.

To me mt. fujitive’s tracks are vignettes, brief and evocative, stories stripped down to their core elements. That’s not to imply that they are in any way incomplete or fragmentary – they’re exactly what they need to be. Just as talented writers can compose compelling and meaningful short stories in just a half dozen pages, so too does mt. fujitive with his songs – with 20 tracks the album comes in at just 42 minutes, so there’s no fluff, no filler, nothing but perfectly composed and executed concepts and ideas.
Kyoto is available for streaming, so go give it a listen. Blue-marbled vinyl is also available via the label, Alda Music, on their website HERE (you can also check out mt. fujitive’s catalog on his Bandcamp page HERE). Alda has also re-pressed some of his earlier albums, which is good since original pressings of Ventures (2018) and Sanctuary (2019) were selling for over $100. As much as I love a collectible or rare record, I also like affordable options when possible – it’s about the music, after all.
