Gróa – “Drop P” (2025)

Gróa are back, and I couldn’t be happier. Call them indie, call them punk, it doesn’t matter. Gróa defies conventional genre labels. They aren’t here to make things easy for you. They’re here to make the noises they want to make, and if you don’t like it, well, that’s too bad for you I guess.

From the funk-infused bass of “Birdshit” to the grungy “Ugh” to the no wave “Screwdriver” we’re all just passengers on the Drop P train as it careens down the tracks. What’s waiting around the next blind corner? I don’t know, but we’re all gonna find out together, cuz we’re picking up speed and flying into the darkness. There’s an earnestness to Gróa, a forthright honesty to their sound. Nothing is overproduced – the songs feel live and real. “Beauty Tips” is an absolute gem, an avant-garde adventure that incessantly pulse and throbs, the low forced-whisper vocals tinging it with a hint of danger. This is one of the coolest albums of 2025 so far.

Drop P is available via streaming, and you can also purchase a download and/or a vinyl copy on Bandcamp HERE.
