Lada Sport are back! You will be forgiven, of course, for never knowing they were gone, as they haven’t released much – an album, Time And Time Again, back in 2007, and a 7″ three years later. That’s it.
Why should you care about these indie rockers from Iceland? Well, because they have a cool sound. And at the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about. A foundation of indie, a scoop of shoegaze, a dash of surf, and a pinch of 60s psych combine perfectly. I think it all comes together on “Ég þerra tárin”, a delightful track that will force a smile onto even the sourest of pusses. The songs are just fun – and if that isn’t a good enough reason to listen, I don’t know what is.
Available for streaming on a number of services, Spegill Spegill also got the vinyl treatment from Icelandic label Record Records.
